“Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help, and brave enough to ask for it.”
Have you ever been in a situation that made you question “How am I going to get through this?”
I don’t know about you, but I sure have…plenty of times. I remember distinct moments in my life where I felt alone, fearful, and the farthest thing from brave. I assume you probably have been there, too.
Maybe you experienced this when you were younger and were wrongfully bullied in school. Maybe you experienced this when you were going through a divorce you never saw coming. Maybe you experienced this when you were laid off from a job and bills were piling up. Maybe you experienced this when you got a scary health diagnosis.
I don’t know what you have and are going through, but I want you to know you are not alone. You are not meant to navigate the journey of life alone.
In those moments when I felt like I was literally at rock bottom, I was still brave even when I didn’t know it at the time.
I was BRAVE enough to ask for help.
I called on family and friends for support. I called on my Tribe for advice. I was vulnerable enough to know that I needed the support of others to keep me going.
I was BRAVE enough to focus on me.
I took mental days off from work. I surrounded myself with people that made me happy. I removed those that didn’t.
I was brave enough to believe that someday and somehow my situation would get better. To no surprise, it eventually did and now I encourage you to do the same–ask for help and focus on yourself.
You are braver than you know. You wake up each morning and tackle everything that this crazy world throws at you. That’s an accomplishment in itself, and I am SO proud of you!
